A major FSP (Wealth / Insurance) is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join their finance team in Pretoria. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll across the organisation while maintaining compliance with all statutory requirements. This role requires someone who is process‑driven, system‑savvy, and highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple payroll‑related tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Process monthly payroll transactions (appointments, increases, terminations, transfers, contributions, and deductions).
- Prepare monthly maternity leave salary calculations and staff deductions.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Communicate payroll deadlines, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations (salary, tax, medical aid, provident funds).
- Generate payroll‑related management information and provide payroll / leave reports to business units.
- Prepare payment requisitions for salary‑related transactions, including directors’ remuneration.
- Maintain accurate record‑keeping for all payroll transactions.
- Register entities with relevant authorities (SARS, Workmen’s Compensation, Department of Labour).
- Prepare, reconcile, and submit EMP201, EMP501, UIF, and Compensation declarations; facilitate payments.
- Generate and release employee IRP5s and payslips.
- Administer Medical Aid and Provident Fund portals, including updating information and querying discrepancies.
- Support HR Team with payroll integration processes (e.g., dummy payslips, manual leave calculations).
- Liaise with payroll system consultants regarding the payroll system.
- Administer payroll system controls, including user access and back‑up management.
- Assist with all staff‑related payroll queries.
- Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, budget limits, and levels of authority.
- Review instructions for relevance, accuracy, and clarity before actioning.
- Assist in other areas as required.
Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Payroll Administration or equivalent qualification.6–8 years of payroll administration experience.Strong knowledge of payroll calculations, labour legislation, and SARS requirements.Experience with payroll systems such as PaySpace is an advantage.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).Strong planning, organising, and problem‑solving skills.Ability to follow processes and procedures accurately and efficiently.Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure.Methodical, detail‑oriented, disciplined, and accurate.Team player with the ability to learn actively and adapt.Flexible to work outside normal hours when required; may work from home as agreed with management.Willingness to travel as required.Benefits
