Minimum requirements for the role :
- Must have a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Agriculture, Nutrition, or a related field
- Minimum 35 years experience in ruminant nutrition, feed additives, or premixes, with specific knowledge of dairy and feedlot requirements
- Proven experience in business development or sales within the agricultural or feed industry
- Proactive and strategic thinker with a passion for agriculture and ruminant nutrition
- Flexibility to attend industry events and supplier meetings as required
- Must have a valid drivers license and be willing to travel extensively across South Africa to meet with farmers and stakeholders
The successful candidate will be responsible for :
Conducting in-depth research on the ruminant feed additives and premixes market, focusing on dairy and feedlot nutrition requirements.Identifying market gaps, trends, and opportunities to develop the product portfolio.Developing and implementing strategies to establish presence in the ruminant market.Identifying and evaluating potential products, solutions, and suppliers for ruminant feed additives and premixes.Collaborating with suppliers to develop or customize products that meet the specific needs of the South African dairy and feedlot markets.Supporting negotiations and partnerships with suppliers to ensure competitive offerings.Building and maintaining relationships with farmers, feedlot operators, dairy producers, and other industry stakeholders.Conducting regular site visits to understand customer needs and provide tailored solutions.Representing the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote brand awareness.Driving sales growth by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in the ruminant sector.Developing proposals and presentations to pitch solutions to potential customers and partners.Collaborating with internal teams to ensure product availability and alignment with market needs.Travelling extensively across South Africa to visit dairy farms (concentrated in the Western Cape) and feedlots (primarily in the Northern Regions).Engaging directly with farmers and stakeholders to build trust and gather insights.Please note that subsequent to the screening and shortlisting process, all further communication will be entered into only with the shortlisted candidates.
