Overview
A global organisation in the energy equipment & services sector is seeking a Temporary Tax Accountant to support tax accounting and compliance across multiple African jurisdictions. You’ll collaborate with international finance teams, ensure adherence to local regulations and US GAAP / SOX, and help standardise robust tax control processes in a dynamic, multinational environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage corporate tax accounting and compliance across African entities.
- Review statutory tax returns, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, Withholding Tax, Stamp Duty.
- Oversee quarterly and annual tax provisions for US GAAP reporting (ASC 740 / ASC 450; formerly FIN 48 / FAS 5).
- Review annual US GAAP tax webforms and supporting schedules.
- Support SOX reporting and maintain strong tax control processes.
- Partner with local and central finance teams to strengthen tax-related internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and local tax regulations.
- Lead and maintain standardised balance sheet tax account reconciliations.
- Liaise with external tax service providers as required.
Qualifications
5+ years in Tax Accounting and Tax Compliance.Exposure to tax in the African region is essential.Experience in a multinational group is advantageous.Strong knowledge of direct and indirect taxation (Corporate Tax, VAT, WHT, Stamp Duty, etc.).Proven ability to collaborate with multi-country finance teams.Excellent tax accounting, compliance, and reconciliation capabilities.High attention to detail; able to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.Independent, proactive, highly organised, and comfortable taking initiative.What’s on Offer
