Overview
A dynamic distribution company is seeking a skilled Accountant to join our Johannesburg team. The successful candidate will ensure financial compliance, manage tax submissions, maintain accounting records, and prepare financial reports. This hands‑on role requires attention to detail, strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to supporting the business’s financial operations.
Responsibilities
Tax Compliance and Regulatory Reporting
- Prepare, assist with and submit accurate VAT, PAYE, Provisional Tax and Annual Income Tax returns (e.g., EMP201, EMP501, ITR14) for multiple Distributors.
- Ensure full compliance with SARS, CIPC and other applicable regulatory bodies.
- Monitor all tax and regulatory filing deadlines to ensure timely submission of returns and reports.
- Engage with Distributors’ external accountants to coordinate resolution of compliance matters.
- Liaise directly with SARS regarding tax queries, audits, objections and verifications.
- Communicate with Distributors on tax‑related queries, documentation requirements and submission deadlines.
- Support Distributors in maintaining organised tax records and compliance documentation.
- Ensure all supporting documents are properly archived for future reference and audit purposes.
Accounting and Financial Reporting
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date accounting records for multiple Distributors.Ensure proper classification of transactions, reconciliation of accounts and prompt resolution of discrepancies.Support the monthly management reporting process including preparation and review of financial statements.Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly Profit and Loss and Cashflow statements for each Distributor.Develop and update financial forecasts and budgets to assess profitability, sustainability and funding requirements at the Distributor level.Identify financial trends, variances and emerging risks; escalated key concerns with actionable recommendations.Prepare ad‑hoc financial calculations and reports as needed.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Taxation.34 years of experience in a tax or compliance‑focused role.Experience preparing, reviewing and submitting tax returns.Strong knowledge of SARS eFiling, EasyFile and related systems.Advanced Excel skills.Own vehicle and valid driver's licence essential for business travel.Benefits
