Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise workshop staff including mechanics, technicians, and assistants
- Plan and allocate daily work schedules to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency
- Provide technical support and diagnostic solutions for mechanical and gearbox-related issues
- Oversee gearbox bench work including stripping, assessing, repairing, and assembling gearboxes
- Conduct quality control checks on all completed jobs before delivery
- Perform vehicle and gearbox diagnostics using appropriate tools and equipment
- Ensure adherence to safety, housekeeping, and operational standards within the workshop
- Monitor job cards, workflow, and turnaround times, ensuring accuracy and timely completion
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and management on technical matters, progress updates, and quotations
- Provide training, mentorship, and support to junior technicians and apprentices
- Assist in cost control, productivity tracking, and workshop performance reporting
Requirements
510 years experience in the motor industry (essential)Mechanical Diploma / Certificate / Red Seal Trade Test (Motor or Diesel Mechanic)Proven experience in gearbox bench work and drivetrain repairsStrong background in diagnostics and fault-findingExperience working on trucks and commercial vehicles (advantageous)Solid technical understanding of mechanical and transmission systemsValid drivers licenceExcellent leadership, communication, and organisational skillsMotor Industry experience Essential!!Key Competencies
