As an Operator : Process (Copeland), you will be responsible to :
Takes and hand over shiftTakes samples / analyzes and reports on sample resultsCompletes Isolation permits safely as and when requestedPrepares the Sodium Sulphite, Evaporators, Reactor and Outside Plants for start up or shut down as per requirementsConducts regular plant inspections to ensure all equipment is in a safe working conditionSafely Starts the Sodium Sulphite, Evaporators, Reactor and Outside Plants to prepare in spec Cooking liquor for the NSSC digesterSafely Shuts down the Sodium Sulphite, Evaporators, Reactor and Outside Plants, when instructed by the Foremen or in emergency conditions and report any deviations to the ForemenMonitors, Control plants and production parameters and reports on any plant or quality defects e.g. (equipment defects or high and low GPL’s)Monitor and report on low Flows and Levels. (cooking liquor, WRL, sumps)Monitor and make process adjustment from interpreting trends on DCSMonitors the offloading of Molten Sulphur into the molten sulphur tankMonitors the offloading of Soda Ash into the Soda Ash Silo’sStarts and Stops the Sulphur Burner and the Waste Heat Boiler as and when requiredStarts and Stops the Centrifuge, Flash dryer and Screw conveyors as when requiredSafely operates the Flash dryer and bulk bagging machine to produce powdered sodium sulphiteAssist with clearing sulphite and sulphur blockages in lines, pumps, tanks etcMonitoring sump levels in order to prevent effluent spillagesFollow all reasonable instruction given by ForemanCompletes plant checklist and create SAP notifications for all defectsReports on all defects and equipment malfunctions to Pulp Foreman and Eng. PersonnelRegularly Inspects equipment for preventative maintenances purposesEnsures the recovery of SLS returned productComply with all relevant SHEQ requirements of the jobIdentify and take corrective action in terms of SHEQ conditions and hazardsMaintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all timesGenerate spill reports if and when requiredClosely monitors the Sodium sulphite plant for SO2 gas release. On instruction from the foreman, must activate the SO2 siren and ensure people have been evacuated from the Sodium Sulphite PlantPlant operated efficiently according to set standardsWhat are we looking for?
Matric and / or N3 Pulp and Paper (4 subjects) and / or NQF Level 4 QualificationMinimum 2 years’ Plant Operations ExperienceComputer Literacy (SAP & MS Office)Production / Manufacturing jobs
