Job Description
The role of the Scrum Master is to facilitate the removal of impediments and foster an environment for high‑performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement. The Scrum Master’s primary responsibility is assisting the self‑organizing, self‑managing team to achieve its goals.
The Scrum Master also helps the team coordinate with other teams in the programme. The incumbent will work in a multi‑functional team to ensure continuous delivery of quality solutions.
Location : Cape Town | Durban | Johannesburg
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Scrum ceremonies, remove obstacles, and facilitate problem‑solving, collaboration, and conflict resolution.
- Plan and replan software releases for medium‑sized projects to ensure timely updates.
- Review the backlog of work, reprioritise, and deploy resources to maximise value.
- Promote a culture of innovation through solution generation, idea platforms, jam sessions, and hackathons.
- Execute and deliver elements of the digital road map, applying agile and design‑thinking principles.
- Identify and evaluate risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints; develop and implement solutions.
- Collate and analyse data using preset tools, methods, and formats.
- Assign short‑term work schedules and manage team timelines.
- Support the deployment and effective utilisation of project resources.
- Develop and produce workstream and project plans that comply with the organisation’s framework.
- Monitor team performance, allocate work, review completion, and take corrective action.
- Build own capabilities via training, coaching, and professional accreditation.
Requirements
Matric certificate with relevant qualification.Good understanding of business IT.Knowledge of agile methodology and frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, SAFe.Strong technical background as a Business Analyst, Software Developer, Quality Analyst, or Project Manager.Experience applying Agile / XP / Scrum practices, coaching teams.Proficient in managing scope and facilitating user story lifecycle.Experience running distributed teams and distributed agile.Experience in software development projects.Exceptional listening, written and verbal communication skills, client facing.Professional facilitation skills.Understanding of team metrics.Ability to run and facilitate core meetings : Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, etc.Stakeholder Management, Negotiation & Communication skills.JIRA / Confluence experience.Competencies

Education
NQF Level 7 – Degree, Advanced Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate or equivalent.
