Head – Learning & Development (Western Cape Blood Service)
The Western Cape Blood Service is a non‑profit organisation whose mission is to collect, process and distribute blood and blood products throughout the Western Cape. A permanent vacancy exists for a Head – Learning & Development based at the Service's HQ (Paterson Grade D3).
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer / Medical Director, the successful incumbent will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Learning & Development Department at WCBS.
Purpose of the job : To oversee the design, implementation and continuous improvement of training and development programmes aligned with WCBS's strategic goals, including managing national training accreditations, professional development and quality assurance in accordance with HPCSA and SAQA standards.
Qualifications : National Diploma or B‑Tech in Biomedical Technology and current registration with HPCSA; Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Health Sciences or a closely related field ; minimum 5 years' experience in immunohematology at a senior supervisory or management level ; at least 5 years' leadership experience in a highly regulated environment ; previous experience in a blood service or healthcare environment considered an advantage.
Skills and Competencies : Strong understanding of training compliance and accreditation processes, strategic thinking, people management, budget planning, excellent communication and report‑writing skills, knowledge of applicable legislation and training standards (HPCSA, SAQA, SANAS, SETA).

Learning and Development Practitioner (Vulamathuba Empumelelo)
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Learning and Development Practitioner to design, deliver, and coordinate impactful training and education programmes. This role will play a key part in advancing our mission by driving adult education initiatives, coordinating tenant support programmes, and developing partnerships that strengthen employability, resilience, and community empowerment.
This position would be based at our Vulamathuba Community Learning Centre and include work across Communicare communities.

Learning & Development Specialist (Newlands, Western Cape)
The Learning & Development Specialist will design and implement training initiatives that align with organisational goals and enhance employee skills while promoting continuous learning. They will identify skill gaps and create effective training solutions to support employee growth.
Duties & responsibilities :
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in HR, Education or related field and registration as a Skills Development Facilitator (SDF). Minimum eight years of L&D experience in a fast‑paced environment, adult learning principles, strong facilitation and e‑learning proficiency, and a strong understanding of learning and development legislation are essential.
Learning and Development Facilitator (Bellville, Western Cape)
Key responsibilities include establishing professional relationships with stakeholders, identifying L&D needs through senior management consultation, facilitating scheduled L&D interventions, reporting and administration, providing advisory services to management, representing L&D within divisional forums, managing costs, and ensuring consultative support for management.
Key requirements : knowledge of adult learning principles, South African L&D legislation, facilitation experience of at least three years, retail experience an advantage, Learning and Development or HR qualification, strong planning and interpersonal skills, presentation and facilitation skills, effective writing and speaking in English and another official SA language, a valid code 08 driving licence and willingness to travel.
Assistant Instructional Designer – UWC (University of Western Cape)
Role clarification : The Centre for Innovative Education & Communication Technologies (CIECT) is responsible for driving emergent technologies and innovative collaborative projects to support teaching and learning. The Assistant Instructional Designer will support design and daily operations of interactive online learning spaces, assist with the development of instructional workshops, and maintain quality reviews of blended learning design.
Key responsibilities :
Minimum requirements : National Diploma or Advanced Certificate (NQF 6); or National Certificate / Higher Certificate (NQF 5) with four years relevant experience in a LMS environment.
Skills and experience : proficiency with blended learning models, eTools, LMS design and development, communication and reporting, facilitation and presentation skills, and ability to explore emerging technologies.
