The Role

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Science Communicator and Project Manager for our client that provides animation services and science communication training programs based in Adelaide, South Australia. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in leading and delivering impactful science communication projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong scientific background, exceptional writing skills, and expertise in project management to ensure the successful execution of client work.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Writing - Turn complex scientific concepts into simple narratives in plain English.
  • Project management - Manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders in different time zones and deadlines using cloud-based software.
  • Communication - Client-facing & internal communication.
  • Content creation - For our blog, training programs and more.
  • Social media - Creating content for our social media channels.
  • Graphic design and illustration - Turn ideas into visuals for storyboards and infographics (if you have the desirable skill related to this.)

    • Qualifications :

  • A university degree in a STEM discipline or science communication (Master’s or PhD preferred)
  • Experience in science communication and project management.

    • Skills and Competencies :

  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills. Writing at a journalistic level.
  • Must have demonstrable experience writing for lay audiences.
  • Experience in graphic design and / or illustration and / or animation is a desirable skill.
  • Must work well under tight deadlines.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of scientific concepts and the ability to communicate them effectively to non-specialist audiences.
  • Proven experience in project management.
