Trails Guide

This is a hands-on role for an experienced, safety-conscious guide who thrives on delivering exceptional Big 5 experiences on foot and by vehicle, while also contributing to broader lodge life beyond the game drive seat.

Core Criteria:

• Minimum 3 years' relevant guiding experience
• FGASA Trails Guide qualification (NQF2/NQF4), VPDA certification, FGASA ARH, FGASA Nature Site Guide (NQF4)
• Valid PDP and First Aid certification (wilderness-orientated preferred)
• Registered with the Department of Tourism (DEDECT) for the Madikwe Game Reserve
• SAPS Firearm Competency (SASSETA 117705 / 119651 / 123519) or licence to possess a firearm; CATHSETA certification
• Confident, adaptable and genuinely passionate about the African bush
• Strong communication, people skills and team spirit
• Comfortable delivering five-star guest experiences under pressure in a remote setting

Core Responsibilities:

• Conduct morning and afternoon game drives and guided bush walks in line with reserve regulations
• Host guests for wake-up coffee, high tea, and check-in/check-out
• Deliver kiddies' activities for children under 10 at the lodge's family camp
• Host dinner service on rotation, including boma evenings
• Manage guest transfers to and from the airstrip in line with operator protocols
• Safely remove unwanted creatures, including snakes, from guest suites and public areas
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with trackers, fellow guides and all lodge departments
• Assist with general lodge maintenance during quieter periods between guest activities

On Offer:

• Salary of R15-16kpm
• R320 per guided bush walk
• Medical aid contribution of R1,478.35 after three months' service
• Live-in position: accommodation, meals, uniform and laundry included
