We are looking for a junior application engineer who is eager to develop both technical and business facing skills. This role is well suited for someone with a strong analytical foundation, a relevant technical qualification, and the curiosity to understand how technology solutions are designed, implemented, and supported in real customer environments.
The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, structured in their thinking, and comfortable moving between business requirements and technical tasks. They should have a working knowledge of IT concepts, confidence in handling data, and a willingness to learn system configuration, integration, and testing. While prior application engineering experience is not required, the candidate must demonstrate a technical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and motivation to grow into a subject matter expert who can translate client needs into practical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Assist in gathering and documenting detailed business requirements, including customisation and integration needs.
- Configure application components under guidance (users, roles, campaigns, routing, reports) according to approved designs.
- Support integration and development tasks under guidance, preparing specifications where needed.
- Execute and document system integration and regression tests; log and track defects.
- Perform routine system tasks (e.g., user setup, campaign configuration, system checks, backups, and minor updates).
Support & Change Management
Evaluate helpdesk tickets assigned to Business Services, investigate configuration issues, and escalate where necessary.Apply approved changes to system configuration; update requirements and database documentation.Conduct regression testing for changes and coordinate release activities.Confirm with customers that changes and resolutions meet expectations; feed learnings into the knowledge base.Communication & Collaboration
Work closely with colleagues across Business Services, Solutions, Technical Services, Development, CVM and Client teams.Provide clear, timely updates on risks, progress, and issues.Ensure adherence to helpdesk, ticketing, and operating standards in line with INOVO quality standards.Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Grade 12 with strong results in Mathematics, IT, CAT or related subjects.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable working with data (Excel proficiency, SQL basics).Ability to learn new systems and adapt quickly to technical environments.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Advantageous
Diploma, NQF Level 5 qualification, or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.Certificates in A+ and / or N+Exposure to CRM platforms, contact centre applications, or enterprise system configuration.Basic knowledge of databases, APIs, scripting, or integration concepts.Prior experience in a technical support, junior business analyst, or system reporting role.Personal Qualities
