Waitron

We are recruiting experienced Hotel Waitrons for a busy hotel in Bantry Bay, Cape Town.
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years’ recent experience within a busy hotel or upmarket restaurant environment, with excellent guest service skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Previous hotel or upmarket restaurant experience is essential.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
  - Minimum 2 years’ recent experience as a Waitron within a hotel or upmarket restaurant environment
  - Previous experience within a busy 4-star or 5-star hotel environment advantageous
  - Strong knowledge of food and beverage service standards
  - Good knowledge of menu items, beverages and basic food and wine pairing
  - Previous experience with restaurant POS systems advantageous
  - Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  - Confident, professional and engaging when interacting with guests
  - Ability to anticipate guest needs and deliver attentive, personalised service
  - Ability to remain calm, organised and professional during high-volume service periods
  - Strong attention to detail and presentation standards
  - Reliable, punctual and committed to professional service standards
  - Ability to work effectively as part of a Food & Beverage team
  - Flexibility to work shifts, evenings, weekends and public holidays
  - Professional grooming and presentation
  - South African citizen or holder of a valid South African work permit
  - A fully updated CV with contactable reference details is essential

What You’ll Be Doing

• Welcoming guests warmly and professionally and ensuring an excellent first impression
  - Taking food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently
  - Guiding guests through menus, daily specials and beverage selections
  - Making suitable food, wine and beverage recommendations based on guest preferences
  - Serving food and beverages professionally and according to hotel service standards
  - Ensuring tables are correctly set, maintained and cleared throughout service
  - Anticipating guest needs and providing attentive, personalised service
  - Handling guest requests, queries and concerns professionally and efficiently
  - Actively upselling menu items, beverages and dining experiences to maximise revenue opportunities
  - Processing orders and payments accurately through the restaurant POS system
  - Maintaining a clean, organised and professionally presented restaurant and service area
  - Communicating effectively with the kitchen, bar and wider Food & Beverage team
  - Supporting colleagues during busy service periods to ensure smooth and efficient operations
  - Following food safety, hygiene and service procedures at all times
  - Maintaining The President Hotel’s guest service standards throughout every shift
