We partner with a South African renewable energy developer to design, build and operate solar PV and battery storage projects and need a lead Corporate Finance Specialist to develop and execute a debt‑raising strategy for the evolving renewable portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, structure and manage debt for renewable portfolio projects (approximately R350 million per cycle) and prepare all financing documents.
- Coordinate project and portfolio financial models with operational forecasts, technical performance data and cost assumptions.
- Design optimal capital structures (debt / equity mix, tenor, covenants, pricing) and conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis to test project resilience.
- Identify and assess target lenders—commercial banks, DFIs and green finance platforms—through market analysis and mapping lender appetite.
- Lead the debt‑raising process from origination to financial close, including term‑sheet negotiation, due‑diligence coordination, loan documentation and drawdown execution.
- Explore and propose innovative financing mechanisms such as sustainability‑linked facilities, green bonds or blended finance structures.
- Prepare investor and stakeholder presentations that communicate project bankability, risk mitigation and financial structure.
- Document best practices, establish model governance protocols and streamline financing processes for future projects.
- Enhance internal debt‑structuring capability and support the development of a long‑term capital strategy, including refinancing and capital recycling frameworks.
Requirements & Qualifications
6–8+ years of experience in corporate or project finance, preferably within renewable energy or infrastructure.Proven success in debt raising, financial structuring and bank negotiations.Deep familiarity with South African financial institutions, DFIs and project finance frameworks.CFA qualification preferred; CA or Master’s degree beneficial.Advanced financial modelling skills with integration of technical, operational and financial inputs.Strong credit analysis, scenario testing and capital structure optimisation abilities.Strategic, hands‑on delivery mindset with excellent relationship building and influence across technical and executive audiences.Professionalism, accountability and sound judgement in independent work; organized, adaptable in fast‑moving environments.Working Arrangement
