Senior Finance Manager

5-Year Contract
📍 Pretoria, Gauteng
A well-established professional organisation within the legal sector is seeking to appoint an experienced and strategically minded Senior Manager: Finance to provide financial leadership, strengthen governance, and support the long-term sustainability of the organisation.
This opportunity is ideally suited to a seasoned finance professional with strong governance, compliance, and operational finance experience gained within a complex organisational environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s / BCom degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Honours degree advantageous
  • CA(SA) advantageous
  • Minimum 6–8 years’ experience in a senior finance role within an organisation of similar size and complexity
  • At least 3–5 years’ experience in a finance management position
  • Relevant exposure to supply chain / procurement management
  • Proven experience working with computerised accounting and financial systems
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS accounting standards, tax legislation, labour legislation, and related regulatory frameworks
  • Experience in combined assurance (King IV/V), including risk and compliance management

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy and Planning

  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned to organisational objectives
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and applicable reporting standards
  • Manage financial controls, cash flow, and working capital
  • Present consolidated financial reports to leadership and governance structures

Payroll Management and Efficiency

  • Oversee payroll processes for staff and third parties
  • Ensure legislative compliance relating to remuneration and payroll practices
  • Ensure payroll reporting and system updates are effectively managed

Supply Chain / Procurement Management

  • Provide strategic financial leadership across procurement and supply chain operations
  • Apply analytics and cost modelling to improve sourcing decisions and operational efficiency
  • Strengthen governance and controls across procurement-to-payment processes
  • Collaborate with leadership on long-term operational and supply chain strategies

Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure compliance with the Income Tax Act, VAT Act, and related legislation
  • Manage SARS submissions, CIPC filings, and external audit processes
  • Uphold sound governance principles and financial controls

Risk and Internal Controls Management

  • Oversee internal audit functions and enterprise risk management frameworks
  • Evaluate and strengthen financial systems, policies, and controls
  • Manage insurance and investment portfolios where applicable

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with auditors, tax advisors, banks, and regulatory bodies
  • Partner with departmental heads to support strategic and operational objectives

Income Sustainability Initiatives

  • Identify donor funding opportunities and sponsorship models to support organisational sustainability

People Leadership and Development

  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team
  • Foster accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with employment and labour legislation
