Solar Systems Data Engineer

Our client in the Renewable Energy industry is currently looking for a Solar Systems Data Engineer, in Bryanston, Sandton.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement data collection strategies.
• Analyse and interpret performance data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for optimization.
• Collaborate with the installation and maintenance teams to ensure proper data collection procedures and data integrity.
• Contribute to improvement initiatives for system efficiency and reliability
• Collaborate with the System and Product Manager to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop performance benchmarks for solar energy systems.
• Monitor the performance of deployed systems and proactively identify issues, providing recommendations for corrective actions. Conduct root cause analysis to investigate system performance deviations and implement appropriate solutions.
• Create and maintain comprehensive reports and dashboards communicating system performance and data insights to relevant stakeholders.
• Create and maintain existing software applications.
• Resolution of customer inquiries related to plant data.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to provide data-driven recommendations for product enhancements and new product development.
• Leverage data insights to drive continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for increasing system efficiency and reliability.
• Active participation in cross-functional teams for innovation.
• Create and maintain reports and dashboards.
• Provide Data-driven recommendations for product enhancements and developments.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimumof 4 years of experience in data analysis or a similar role.
• Experience in the renewable energy industry, particularly solar energy systems, is highly desirable.
• Knowledge and Skills:
• Advanced analytical skills for interpreting and analysing performance data.
• Experience using Python and conducting data science projects is essential.
• Expertise in implementing data collection strategies and real-time data monitoring.
• In-depth understanding of solar energy systems, including inverters and batteries.
  Familiarity with key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance benchmarking in the context of solar energy systems.
• Proven experience in conductingroot cause analysis and implementing effective solutions.
• Proficiency in creating comprehensive reports and dashboards to communicate insights.
• Exceptional technical troubleshooting skills for addressing system issues.
• Up-to-date knowledge of industrytrends, emerging technologies, and best practices in monitoring and optimising solar energy systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and backend software application development.
• Working understanding of API’s.
• Experience coding in C#.
• Experience working in an AGILE methodology and ceremonies.
• Experience using Tableau or other similar visualisation software.

Remuneration:

• R700000 - R750000 per annum.
