Structural Engineer / Structural Technologist

Hire Resolve's client is seeking a skilled Structural Engineer or Structural Technologist to join a dynamic team within the construction industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning, design, and implementation of structural projects, with a strong emphasis on commercial developments. This position combines office-based design work with on-site responsibilities, offering an exciting opportunity to apply technical expertise and project management skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of structural designs for buildings and infrastructure projects.
• Use design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Tekla to produce and revise technical drawings.
• Conduct basic structural calculations under supervision to analyse loads, materials, and stability.
• Support the detailing and engineering of façade systems, ensuring design intent is preserved when applicable.
• Prepare reports, specifications, and technical documentation in line with project and regulatory requirements.
• Attend site visits and inspections, supporting senior engineers in evaluating construction progress and quality.
• Collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to address engineering challenges.
• Provide project assistance across all stages, from concept design to final construction and handover.
• Participate actively in training and development opportunities to enhance engineering knowledge and skills.
• Integrate sustainable and innovative design principles into engineering solutions where possible.
• Support health and safety compliance across all phases of engineering and construction.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or nearing completion).
• Strong interest or experience in structural design and analysis.
• Familiarity with design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.
• Exposure to or interest in façade engineering or architectural detailing is advantageous.
• Understanding of basic engineering principles and South African building codes.
• Willingness to work in a remote/rural location (Sutherland, Northern Cape).
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to assist on-site and participate in inspections or construction support.
• Eagerness to grow professionally under the mentorship of senior engineers.
