PRODUCTION MANAGER

Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose of role:

1. Managing the manufacture/fabrication of body applications & components as well as specialised application modifications.
2. Responsible for the overall performance of Production operations in line with the overall business strategy, obtaining support from other departments to ensure delivery to schedule, meeting quality & cost targets as well as ensuring continuous improvement principles.
3. Management of Production related staff and ensure that all staff follow company and government policies and procedures, while manufacturing/fabricating quality products and meeting schedule targets.

Job requirements:

1. Tertiary qualification (Degree or Diploma) in Production management or Mechanical / Electrical engineering.
2. Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in Production Management.
3. Sound knowledge of Lean Manufacturing system principles.
4. Working knowledge of applicable labour & OCHSA regulations/laws.
5. Effective leadership, organisational and excellent communication, and time management skills.
6. Demonstrates commitment to safety & housekeeping.
7. Computer Literacy, knowledge and experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows, MS Office suite & MS Project.
8. Basic working knowledge of computer applications for CAD.
9. Be prepared to work overtime / emergencies.
10. Driver’s License (ideally Code 14).
11. Ability to engage with trade unions, suppliers & customers effectively.

Duties:

1. Manage and motivate the Production teams to achieve performance targets.
2. Managing the Manufacturing/Fabrication processes.
3. Ensuring that body applications are built in accordance with specifications, meeting regulatory and customer requirements.
4. Achieving the Production schedule, Quality & Cost targets.
5. Implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
6. Ensuring compliance to SHE/OHCSA.
