Lead Product Engineer

Overview

We are looking for a strong Cobol resource to work in a dynamic team supporting the South African, Domestic Low Value Payments systems. This is a high-pressure environment supporting a critical function, working with a dynamic team. There is exposure to all areas of the bank as well as into the broader banking industry.

About the BU Team

This is a high functioning team. The main focus is the maintenance and support of the systems under their control. The team works closely with the development team and does some smaller development tasks. There are opportunities to build solutions that enhance the stability and efficiency of the systems.

Requirements

Strong problem solving. You need to be able to not only identify possible or real problems but also be adept in finding solutions to the problems with a focus on simple yet strategic solutions.

Confident and proficient in your field.

Resilient.

Resourceful. If you don’t know you should be able to find the information and good negotiation skills to deal with other people and teams.

Positive influence within our team.

We are looking for someone who is a self-starter.

Mandatory Skills

• Cobol (minimum 7 years experience).
• JCL
• DB2
• Batch and online processing.

Beneficial Skills

• IMS
• Easytrieve
• Understanding of General Ledger
• Data Archiving (Hadoop and AWS Athena/Amber)
