Leader in water and wastewater treatment seeks an EC & I Engineer to turn Electrical/Control/Instrumentation process requirements into projects. Based in PAARL or JOHANNESBURG.

For the position you would be required to have:

• Degree/Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
• Around 5 years’ experience as an EC & I Engineer in turnkey projects or water/waste/energy industry

Responsibilities would include:

• Assess and apply client specs in all aspects of the design phase.
• Assist with EC&I execution works costing during tendering - Compiling EC&I equipment RFQ’s, compiling a detailed Scope of Works for EC&I subcontract, technical evaluations and adjudications.
• Assist with the Procurement function during project execution – Compiling EC&I equipment RFQ’s, compiling a detailed Scope of Works for EC&I subcontract, technical evaluations and adjudications, attend and/or lead kick-off meetings with vendors & EC&I subcontractors.
• Assist with preparation of P & ID’s and design documentation including plant layout design.
• Manage the EC&I design subcontractor and suppliers to meet deliverables (technical, programme, cost).
• Execution of basic and detailed EC&I design during project execution.
• Assist with the specification of PLC, SCADA and/or Human Machine Interfaces.
• Review, approval and sign off of EC&I design as generated by design subcontractors, including Single Line Diagrams, Electrical Load Lists, I/O Lists, Control Architecture, Loop Drawings, MCC / PLC cabinet layout drawings, cable schedules, Termination Drawings, Bill of Quantities etc.
• Perform assessment of client specifications to prepare proposals/reports on cost-saving alternatives.
• Assist with the preparation of Process Control Philosophy and Functional Design Specification documentation.
• Keep current in automation and network computing technology trends.
• Facilitate and perform factory acceptance tests (hardware and software).
• Hot and cold commissioning assistance, including coordination of EC&I pre-commissioning activities e.g. punching, loop checking and sign-off of check sheets.
