Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

Lead Mechanical Design Engineer required with at least 10 years experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a lead/managerial role. Ability to manage Mechanical design engineers and act as a mentor. B Eng. Degree or B Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required. 3D CAD experience is essential. The role mainly involves working with a USA client base, and candidates must be willing to travel to the USA for variable periods. Experience in the international design of equipment in the automotive field is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

Location: Centurion

Exciting career opportunity for engineers with a passion for Mechanical design and first principle designs, along with strong managerial skills. This is a leadership position within the design environment.

Minimum qualification and experience:

• B Eng. Degree or B Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Mechanical design engineering experience (10-15 years)
• 3D CAD experience

Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership
• Interface with customers to help establish and prioritize the utilization of design resources
• Delegate work to assigned engineering personnel
• Direct and guide design engineers on technical issues
• Manage project/task timelines to ensure milestones are reached and communicate for non-compliance in a timely manner
• Take responsibility for the technical soundness and compliance of designs to customer and engineering standards
• Organize and lead internal design reviews to ensure that designs are properly checked
• Lead design reviews with customers and suppliers
• Lead CAD Design
• Willing to travel overseas for variable periods
