Junior Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Officer Support the implementation and maintenance of health and safety systems in a high-output manufacturing environment. Atlantis Industrial Area, Western Cape. About Our Client The company operates in a high-output manufacturing and food processing environment. It focuses on maintaining safety, hygiene, and audit requirements aligned with industry standards. The Role: Junior Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Officer The Junior OHS Officer exists to support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of occupational health and safety management systems. This role ensures full compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act while supporting food safety, hygiene, and audit requirements. The main focus areas include risk management, documentation, and training within a manufacturing and cold-storage setting. Key Responsibilities - Demonstrate 13 years of experience in a similar OHS role. - Implement OHS management systems in line with legislation and industry best practice. - Conduct regular risk assessments and investigate incidents using root cause analysis. - Manage the full lifecycle of the Safety File and maintain accurate documentation. - Coordinate mandatory safety training including first aid, fire fighting, and evacuation procedures. - Chair Safety Committee meetings and track action items. - Monitor the validity of statutory certificates and equipment registers. - Work with Quality and Operations teams to align safety with HACCP and GMP standards. About You - Grade 12 (Senior Certificate). - SAMTRAC or NEBOSH International General Certificate (essential). - 13 years of experience in a similar OHS role. - Knowledge of HACCP principles and General Machinery Regulations (GMR). - Experience within FMCG or manufacturing environments. - Computer literate in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). - Valid drivers licence and own reliable transport. - Strong written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail. - Comfortable working in manufacturing and cold-storage conditions. - Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or Safety Management (advantageous). - Professional registration with a recognised body such as SAIOSH (advantageous). - Exposure to food processing environments (advantageous).
