We are seeking a Trade Compliance Analyst to support and manage import/export compliance activities across Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The role will ensure adherence to local customs regulations, international trade laws, and internal compliance policies, while supporting business operations across multiple SSA markets.
This position requires hands-on experience in customs operations, regulatory compliance, and coordination with logistics providers, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
● Manage day-to-day import and export compliance activities across SSA countries.
● Ensure accurate customs declarations, documentation, and classification (HS Codes).
● Review and validate commercial invoices, packing lists, COO, and shipping documents.
● Coordinate with customs brokers (., DGF, DHL, Expeditors) to ensure compliant clearance.
● Monitor and ensure compliance with local customs regulations across SSA markets.
● Support duty optimization initiatives, including Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) where applicable.
● Identify and mitigate compliance risks, including valuation, classification, and origin issues.
● Support internal stakeholders (Supply Chain, Sales, Finance) on trade compliance requirements.
● Participate in customs audits, post-clearance reviews, and internal compliance checks.
● Maintain proper record-keeping and documentation in line with audit requirements.
● Support implementation of standardized compliance processes across SSA.
You must have:
● Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field.
● 3–5 years of experience in Trade Compliance / Customs / Logistics.
● Strong understanding of:
- Customs regulations.
- HS classification.
- Import/export documentation.
- Incoterms.
● Hands-on experience covering Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) (not limited to South Africa)
● Familiarity with customs environments in markets such as:
● Fluent in English.
● French is a plus.
