The Plant Disease Clinic (PDC) is a service laboratory within the Department of Plant Pathology at Stellenbosch University (SU). Its services focus on identifying the causes of plant diseases affecting a wide range of plants, as well as diagnosing pests that impact crops. The PDC provides accurate and timely diagnoses of plant health-related issues for clients, serving as a vital resource for farmers, gardeners, and agricultural professionals. The PDC also contributes to the national training of plant health diagnostic interns in collaboration with the National Biosecurity Hub and plays a key role in monitoring emerging plant health threats, capacity building in plant diagnostic skills, and supporting biosecurity initiatives and long‑term agricultural sustainability in South Africa.
