Logistics Operations Manager

PINDULO VDM, a leading freight and logistics company, is looking for a hands‑on and driven Logistics Operations Manager to join our Saldanha operations team.

We are seeking a strong operational leader with proven transport and fleet management experience to oversee and drive the performance of our transport operations. This role is responsible for leading the fleet control function, ensuring operational efficiency, service excellence, and effective execution across the business.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing day‑to‑day transport operations, leading operational teams, driving performance standards, and ensuring the business consistently delivers safe, efficient, and customer‑focused transport solutions in line with operational requirements and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the daily operations of the fleet control division
• Drive operational performance, fleet utilisation, productivity, and service delivery standards
• Manage and support Fleet Controllers to ensure accountability, operational discipline, and continuous improvement
• Ensure effective planning and execution of loads in line with operational and customer requirements
• Take ownership of operational challenges, delays, breakdowns, and service escalations
• Ensure compliance with company SOPs, safety standards, and client requirements
• Monitor operational KPIs and implement corrective actions where required
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, drivers, service providers, and internal departments
• Drive cost control initiatives and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability
• Ensure accurate operational reporting, fleet tracking, and performance analysis
• Support performance management, employee development, and disciplinary processes within the operations team
• Contribute towards the ongoing improvement and growth of the transport operation

Qualifications & Experience

• Senior Certificate / Grade 12 (essential)
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Transport Management, or Supply Chain Management (advantageous)
• Valid driver's licence
• Minimum 5–7 years’ experience within transport operations or fleet management
• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role within a logistics environment
• Strong computer literacy (Excel, Outlook, transport management systems, and reporting platforms)
• Experience working with vehicle tracking and fleet management systems will be advantageous
