Quality Controller

Our client in the FMCG/ Manufacturing Industry requires the services of a Quality Controller to ensure that the assigned production line meets and exceeds quality standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key performance areas:

Quality Control:

1. Perform quality control (QC) checks and generate reports for incoming and outgoing products to ensure that they meet quality and safety standards in accordance with regulations.
2. Compile QC reports and checklists.
3. Perform sensory evaluation for incoming raw materials to ensure consistent quality and for product improvement.
4. Perform regular internal and external quality control and monitor their quality to provide timely feedback for improvement.
5. Monitoring and recording shelf life and temperatures for raw materials.
6. Inspect packaging and labels on all products before despatch.
7. Inspect equipment for sanitation and integrity.
8. Perform preoperational checks for hygiene and quality standards.

Health and Safety:

1. Monitoring staff entrance to the production area to ensure staff adhere to the strictest hygiene practices.
2. Daily glass and hard plastic checks to ensure no particles are found in products.
3. Weekly chemical calibration checks.
4. Ensure staff adhere to Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) requirements and reporting non-conformance to management.

Cleaning team supervision:

1. Monitor execution of cleaning activities delivered by cleaners.
2. Plan and schedule cleaning team.
3. Ensure adherence to cleaning schedules and display of schedules.

Desired Experience & Qualification

The successful candidate must have:

1. Matric with a degree in Food Science or relevant qualification.
2. At least 1-3 years of relevant experience in the Food Manufacturing Industry.
3. Practical experience supervising a team in day-to-day quality control/assurance, hygiene, health, and standards.
4. Knowledge of basic Food Safety, HACCP Implementation, line inspections, and housekeeping will be advantageous.
5. Basic computer literacy skills.
6. Leadership and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
7. Task and quality-oriented with the ability to plan and organize.
8. Ability to build customer relations and resolve conflict.
9. Self-motivated and driven with strong integrity.
10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
11. Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
12. Willingness to work night shifts.
