Production Section Manager Northern Cape

Mining Professional Position

Our Mining client in the Northern Cape is sourcing for a Mining Professional to join their production team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Health, Safety and Environment

• Complies with the Mine Health and Safety Act as well as company policies and procedures.

Production

• Assists with the drawing up of business strategy and budget formulation.
• Ensures optimal production of mining and plant.
• Achieves productivity targets.

Cost

• Ensures correct allocation of resources e.g., labour and equipment.
• Allocates/withholds funds as dictated by operational requirements.

Labour Management

• Defines labour structure and ensures vacancies are filled within a reasonable time.
• Reviews subordinates’ performances quarterly according to their respective KPIs.
• Approves and monitors overtime in the maintenance department based on Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) requirements.
• Manages leave schedule.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• National Diploma or B. Degree in Mining.
• Opencast Blasting Certificate.
• At least 5-10 years’ experience in an open cast mining environment, with at least 2 years at Production Manager level.
• Proven experience with opencast production & maintenance.
• Medical Fitness.
• Thorough experience in drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and pit dewatering.
• Candidates must have a valid driver’s license.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
• Must be medically fit and pass a medical examination as required by the designated mines.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines as determined by the supervisor.
• Must possess basic problem-solving and self-management skills.
