Job description

Directorate: Clinical Support and Therapeutic Service

Number of Posts: 1

Package: R 413 121.00 per annum (plus benefit)

Responsibilities

  • Provide dietetics services for in‑ and out‑patients in adherence to the scope of practice and health protocols.
  • Compile monthly statistics of activities conducted.
  • Adhere to infection control and hygiene standards required by departmental guidelines.
  • Supervise and train dietetic students.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of nutritional guidelines for the unit.
  • Attend relevant meetings and comply with the Performance Management and Development System (PMDS).
  • Effectively render cost‑effective and evidence‑based nutritional requirements according to norms and standards.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary team members and maintain effective record keeping.
  • Assist with coordination of clinical nutrition and food service management.
  • Adhere to ethical rules, regulations and policies.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Dietetics with registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Dietitian, plus proof of current HPCSA registration.
  • Must be at Grade 1 level and have completed the community service period as a dietitian.
  • Sound knowledge of clinical theory, practice and ethics relating to the delivery of dietetics service.
  • Experience in a hospital setting and knowledge of current health policies and public team using patient‑centred, goal‑oriented and interdisciplinary approach.
  • Good communication, computer and interpersonal skills.
