JOB TITLE

PROFESSIONAL NURSE – MENTAL HEALTH FACILITY

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To provide age‑appropriate patient care according to the nursing scope of practice as defined by the South African Nursing Council (SANC).

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Must be able to practice within the scope of practice as a Registered Nurse.
• Must be compliant with Hospital Policies and Regulations.
• Must possess excellent inter‑personal skills.
• Must be able to provide safe, quality patient care in the ward.

COMPETENCIES (Advantageous)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Must have grade 12.
• Must be registered with SANC as a Registered Nurse.
• Preferably have two or more years of experience as a Registered Nurse within the hospital setting.
• Must be prepared to do shift‑work (Night shift / Day shift).

SKILLS (Practical & Technical)

• Must have excellent telephone skills.
• Must possess excellent inter‑personal skills.
• Must be able to work independently under minimum supervision.
• Excellent observation skills.
