Group Financial Manager (Maternity Cover)

A leading financial services company in Cape Town is searching for a maternity cover for the Group Financial Manager. The role requires a highly assertive and results-oriented individual who works with a strong sense of delivering quality work and thrives in a fast-paced setting.

About the Role

The Group Financial Manager is responsible for internal and external financial reporting and liaising with finance teams throughout the group. The Group Financial Manager has 3 direct reports and reports directly to the Group CFO.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assisting with the finalization of the annual audit process
2. Regulatory reporting:
1. Oversee and review the annual group QRT return for the group
2. Oversee and review the consolidated results of the group to assess the impact of potential risk scenarios as part of the annual ORSA process
3. JSE reporting requirements:
1. Liaise with the group’s sponsors on various SENS and other reporting requirements
4. Management information:
1. Preparation, review, and reporting of monthly management accounts, including flash results
2. Monthly Credit and Investment Committee reporting and attending these meetings
3. Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations
4. Monthly reporting to the group’s Operating Committee
5. Special projects:
1. Assisting various finance teams across the Group with special ad-hoc reporting requirements and requests

Desired Experience & Qualifications

1. 5 years’ experience in the Financial Services Sector in a Group environment
2. Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills
3. Ability to manage and integrate with a team
4. Strong analytical and numerical skills
5. Delivering results and meeting management expectations
6. Ability to work under pressure
7. Strong accounting and financial services knowledge
8. Strong knowledge of accounting systems and financial reporting skills
9. Ability to communicate at Executive level
10. Ability to package and communicate financial information in a clear and concise manner
11. Computer literacy; Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
