Overview : The IT Infrastructure & Cyber Security Specialist is responsible for maintaining BOC’s IT infrastructure (networks, servers, cloud applications, and collaboration platforms) while ensuring the highest standards of cyber security.
Responsibilities
- Perform troubleshooting using different diagnostic techniques
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical hardware and / or software issues
- Provide needed information on IT / IS products or services
- Keep record of problems and their resolution
- Provide feedback on processes and make recommendations on areas to improve
- Maintain technical documentation and service catalogue on installation of software, configuration of hardware and problem troubleshooting
- Suggest improvements on procedures
Infrastructure & Network Administration
Configure, monitor, and maintain Cisco / HP switches, VLANs, and wireless access pointsInstall, configure, and maintain servers, network cabling, and endpoint devices (desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices)Manage Active Directory (AD) : user accounts, groups, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and access permissionsAdminister Microsoft 365 services via the Admin Portal, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and TeamsSupport and manage Microsoft Teams Rooms devices and applicationsPerform system updates, backups, and proactive infrastructure maintenance to minimize downtimeTroubleshoot LAN / WAN, VPN, DHCP, and DNS issues and ensure reliable network connectivityCyber Security Operations
Configure, manage, and monitor firewalls, intrusion detection / prevention systems (IDS / IPS), and VPNsConduct regular network vulnerability assessments and penetration testingMonitor for unusual traffic patterns, unauthorized access, and potential attacksMaintain and monitor Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems and endpoint protectionImplement and enforce data protection policies, encryption standards, and secure data transfersOversee backup and disaster recovery processes to safeguard critical dataApplication & Data Security
Secure key business applications (e.g., Sage ERP, HR, and operational systems)Enforce least-privilege principles, conduct access reviews, and manage security patchingEnsure audit logs for critical applications are captured, monitored, and retainedPerform root-cause analysis and prepare incident response reportsCompliance & Reporting
Ensure alignment with regulatory frameworks (e.g., POPIA, GDPR, PCI DSS, ISO 27001)Prepare and deliver regular security and risk reports for IT management and executives, including :Cyber incident statistics and firewall activity summariesSecurity posture, vulnerability trends, and risk assessmentsCompliance dashboards and audit responsesProvide clear, concise reporting for both technical and non-technical stakeholdersLead cyber security awareness training for employees to reduce human error risksCollaboration & Knowledge Sharing
Work closely with the IT support team to reduce reliance on external vendorsProvide mentorship to junior staff on network, cloud, and security best practicesParticipate in the design and implementation of new IT projects and digital transformation initiativesQualifications
Educational Level : Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Information SecurityCertifications preferred : CCNA / CompTIA Network+; CompTIA Security+ / CISSP / CISM / CEH; Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS-900, Azure Fundamentals, or Microsoft 365 Security Administrator)Experience
Three (3) to five (5) years of combined working experience in IT support, network administration, and cyber security operationsOther Skills & Qualifications
Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs) and structured cabling standardsHands-on experience with Cisco / HP switch configuration and troubleshootingProficiency in Microsoft 365 Admin Portal and Active Directory administrationExperience in configuring and managing Microsoft Teams RoomsStrong technical expertise in firewall administration, IDS / IPS, and network security toolsFamiliarity with Sage ERP security and other key business application controlsKnowledge of data security principles, encryption, and disaster recovery strategiesStrong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent reporting and documentation skills, with the ability to present complex findings to executivesHigh integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detailStrong communication and customer service orientationProject managementClosing date
