Civil Technologist / Engineer – Water

Required for a group of Consulting Civil Engineers in Pietermaritzburg.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of BSc/BTech/B Eng in Civil Engineering.
• ECSA Professional registration will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 6-7 years design experience in Water and Sanitation projects, Municipal projects, Water Treatment Works, and Waste-Water Treatment Works.

KEY COMPETENCIES:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Projects.
• Proficiency in use of MS Office, AutoCAD Civil 3D (essential), and IDAS an advantage.
• Knowledgeable in Hec-ras, GIS, PCSWMM, or similar.
• Basic knowledge of Construction Contracts.
• Clear Communication Skills.
• Understanding of the project management life cycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and implement comprehensive Business plans, feasibility studies, and conceptual design reports for water & sanitation projects, considering environmental regulations and project specifications.
• Design and optimize water & sanitation facilities, ensuring efficient and sustainable processes.
• Provide technical oversight during the construction phase, ensuring compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
• Address and resolve any technical issues that may arise during construction.
• Prepare development stage drawings.
• Attend project coordination meetings and liaise with the professional team.
• Model designs and prepare preliminary drawings.
• Prepare tender documentation, adjudicate and compile adjudication reports.
• Conduct site monitoring and quality control, following company quality site assurance documentation, and prepare close-out reports.
• Assist in compiling bids and proposal documents.
• Knowledge of Quality Management System.

SALARY: Negotiable – experience related.
