Occupational Health Nursing Practitioner (OHNP) – Moonlighting

Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Occupational Health Nursing Practitioner (OHNP) registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) to provide after-hours occupational health services in the Boston, Bellville area.

This moonlighting role is ideal for a practitioner looking for flexible, supplementary hours (evenings/weekends).

Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

• Conducting pre-employment and periodic medical surveillance as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) 85 of 1993.
• Performing and interpreting Audiometry, Spirometry, and Vision screening (certification required).
• Managing minor Injuries on Duty (IOD) and emergency primary care.
• Ensuring clinic compliance with COIDA (Claims) and medical records management.
• Drug and alcohol screening (non-DOT; company policy based).

Minimum Requirements

• Diploma or BTech in Occupational Health Nursing.
• Active SANC registration as an OHNP.
• Valid certificates in Audiometry and Spirometry (essential).
• Minimum 2–3 years post-qualification OHNP experience.
• Knowledge of OHSA, COIDA, BCEA.l
• Own reliable transport – Boston, Bellville has good access but sites may be spread across Bellville South, Stikland, and nearby industrial parks.

Moonlighting Compliance (South African Law) – Important for public sector employees (e.g., Tygerberg Hospital, Karl Bremer, or local clinics)

If you are employed by the Western Cape Department of Health, you must obtain written approval for Remunerative Work Outside the Public Service (RWOPS) from your Head of Department before accepting this role.

All applicants must ensure total working hours (primary + moonlighting) comply with BCEA rest periods (12 consecutive hours rest per day). Fatigue management is critical.

Location Details

• Primary work area: Boston, Bellville and surrounding suburbs (Bellville South, Stikland, Oakdale).
• Shifts typically: Evenings (17:00 – 21:00) or weekends (Sat 08:00–13:00).
