Support the implementation and continuous enhancement of the Africa Regional Compliance Programme in alignment with Global Integrity & Compliance requirements.
Ensure effective implementation and operationalisation of Global and Regional compliance policies, procedures, standards and controls across the Africa Region.
Develop, maintain and periodically review regional compliance SOPs, guidance documents, templates and governance processes tailored to country‑specific requirements.
Support the embedding of ethical business practices and a culture of compliance throughout all business operations.
Monitor evolving pharmaceutical, anti‑bribery, anti‑corruption, privacy and healthcare regulations across African markets and recommend appropriate implementation measures.
2. Legislative and Regulatory Compliance
Ensure company operations comply with applicable global company policies, relevant pharmaceutical industry codes, anti‑bribery and anti‑corruption requirements, privacy legislation and local healthcare regulations across African markets.
Provide practical and risk‑based compliance guidance to business stakeholders on promotional practices, HCP/HCO engagements, sponsorships, grants, patient support programmes, third‑party engagements and events.
Support review processes for promotional and non‑promotional activities and materials where applicable.
Ensure appropriate escalation of compliance risks, breaches or control weaknesses.
Maintain awareness of developments relating to pharmaceutical compliance legislation, privacy legislation and industry guidance applicable to the Region.
3. Monitoring, Auditing and Investigations
Lead and coordinate regional compliance monitoring activities in accordance with the Global Compliance Monitoring Programme.
Conduct and oversee compliance monitoring reviews, transactional testing and risk‑based monitoring activities.Support preparation for internal audits, external audits and principal/partner monitoring activities.
Track monitoring findings, CAPAs and remediation plans to completion.
Support compliance investigations, Speak Up matters and internal reviews in collaboration with People & Culture, Legal and Global Compliance where applicable.
Identify emerging compliance risks and recommend mitigation actions.
4. Reporting, Metrics and Africa Compliance Operations Management
Maintain and oversee the Africa Region Compliance Operations Tracker and related governance reporting tools.
Ensure accurate, complete and timely completion of the Africa Region Compliance Operations Spreadsheet and all associated reporting requirements.
Consolidate and monitor regional compliance KPIs, including but not limited to:
Training completion rates
Monitoring and audit outcomes
CAPA implementation status
Third‑party due diligence completion rates
Events and sponsorship review metrics
HCP/HCO engagement metrics
Policy implementation status
Compliance communications and awareness activities
Investigations and case management metrics
Risk assessment completion status
Data privacy and compliance training metrics
Regional compliance operational deliverables and timelines
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual compliance reports, dashboards and trend analyses for Regional Leadership, Global Compliance Committees and other governance forums.
Drive continuous improvement of compliance reporting systems, KPI monitoring and operational governance processes.
5. Training and Compliance Culture
Develop and deliver regional compliance training and awareness programmes to employees, distributors and third parties.
Support rollout and monitoring of global and regional online compliance training initiatives.
Coordinate training records, attendance tracking and reporting.
Promote a strong speak‑up culture and ethical decision‑making across the organisation.
Organise compliance awareness campaigns, Compliance Day activities and regional communications initiatives.
6. Third‑Party Compliance and Due Diligence
Oversee third‑party compliance due diligence activities, including distributors, vendors, consultants, HCPs and other third parties.
Support implementation and oversight of third‑party risk‑management processes and ongoing monitoring requirements.
Review and monitor conflict of interest disclosures and support mitigation measures where required.
Partner with Procurement, Legal, People & Culture and business stakeholders to ensure effective compliance integration into third‑party engagement processes.
7. Cross‑Functional and Global Collaboration
Partner closely with Commercial, Medical, Regulatory Affairs, Finance, People & Culture, Supply Chain, Procurement and Legal teams to integrate compliance requirements into business operations.
Collaborate with Global Integrity & Compliance teams to align regional activities with global strategy and expectations.
Support regional and global compliance projects, initiatives and governance activities.
Provide practical, business‑oriented compliance guidance while maintaining strong governance standards.
8. Team Leadership and Supervision
Provide day‑to‑day supervision, support and guidance to Compliance Specialist(s) and other regional compliance support personnel.
Review and oversee operational outputs, reporting deliverables and assigned compliance activities of direct reports.
Support development, mentoring and training of junior compliance team members.
Allocate responsibilities and monitor workload management within the regional compliance team.
Foster a collaborative, accountable and service‑oriented team culture.
9. Quality, Pharmacovigilance and Training Compliance
Adhere to all company policies and procedures relating to patient safety and pharmacovigilance.
Ensure prompt forwarding of Product Quality Complaints, Adverse Events and Medical Information Requests to the relevant Quality Assurance, Pharmacovigilance or Medical Affairs personnel.
Ensure completion of all mandatory compliance and pharmacovigilance training requirements according to training plans.

Professional Qualifications
Admitted Attorney
Registered Pharmacist
Qualified Auditor
Qualified Accountant
Additional compliance certifications will be advantageous.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Pharmacy, Accounting, Auditing, Compliance, Business or related field.
Postgraduate qualifications in Compliance, Law, Business or Risk Management will be advantageous.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a compliance role within a multinational pharmaceutical company.
Experience supporting or managing compliance programmes across multiple African markets.
Experience in pharmaceutical compliance monitoring, investigations, due diligence and governance processes.
Strong experience with pharmaceutical industry compliance frameworks and operational governance processes.
Experience managing compliance reporting, metrics and KPI tracking.
Prior supervisory or people management experience will be advantageous.
Competencies and Skills
Strong understanding of pharmaceutical compliance frameworks and anti‑bribery requirements.
Strong knowledge of healthcare and pharmaceutical regulations across African markets.
