Junior Draughtsman (Autodesk Inventor & Edgecam)

Our client, a well-established engineering and manufacturing company, is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Draughtsman to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about mechanical design and manufacturing, enjoys working in a collaborative engineering environment, and is looking to further develop their skills using Autodesk Inventor and Edgecam.

Working alongside experienced engineers and production personnel, you will be responsible for producing accurate engineering drawings, maintaining technical documentation, and supporting manufacturing processes to ensure high-quality project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate 2D engineering drawings and 3D models using Autodesk Inventor.
• Prepare manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
• Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Modify and update existing engineering drawings.
• Assist with CNC programming and machining support using Edgecam.
• Ensure drawings comply with engineering standards and company procedures.
• Liaise with engineers, machinists, and production staff to resolve design-related issues.
• Maintain drawing revision control and document management.
• Verify manufactured components against engineering drawings where required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.

Minimum Requirements

• National Diploma, N6, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Draughting, or a related technical discipline.
• 13 years' experience in a draughting or mechanical design environment.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor.
• Working knowledge of Edgecam.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Sound understanding of manufacturing and machining processes.
• Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Advantageous

• Exposure to CNC machining and programming.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with ISO quality standards.
