About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced and technically driven Product Manager to join its growing team based in Kempton Park.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Management or a related field

• Minimum 5 years' experience in product management, product support, application engineering or technical sales within the construction, mining or heavy equipment industry

• Strong understanding of earthmoving and mining equipment applications

• Experience conducting product analysis, market research and competitive benchmarking

• Excellent presentation, communication and stakeholder management skills

• Computer literate in Microsoft Office

• Valid driver's license

• Willingness to travel locally and internationally when required

Advantageous

• Experience with Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis

• Experience supporting key account customers

• Knowledge of open-pit mining and infrastructure construction operations

• Experience developing product strategies for OEM or heavy equipment manufacturers

• Strong understanding of dealer and distribution networks

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Portfolio Management

• Conduct industry and market research to understand customer applications and equipment requirements

• Analyse working conditions across mining, infrastructure, quarrying and construction industries

• Develop and maintain competitive product portfolio strategies

• Recommend product positioning based on customer needs and market trends

• Support new product introductions and product lifecycle management

Product Application & Technical Support

• Evaluate equipment performance under various operating conditions

• Participate in field trials and on-site equipment evaluations

• Validate product performance through working condition verification

• Develop application recommendations for customers and dealers

• Support product improvements through customer and market feedback

Commercial Support

• Conduct Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) calculations to support sales activities

• Assist key account managers with technical product presentations

• Support tender submissions and major customer proposals

• Provide product recommendations based on customer operating requirements

• Collaborate with sales teams to maximise product competitiveness

Training & Product Development

• Develop product portfolio documentation and technical materials

• Deliver product training to sales teams, dealers and internal stakeholders

• Improve product knowledge and technical competency across the organisation

• Support marketing initiatives with technical product information

• Work closely with engineering, product support and aftermarket teams

Market Intelligence

• Monitor competitor products and industry developments

• Analyse customer feedback and identify product improvement opportunities

• Prepare market intelligence reports and business recommendations

• Support strategic planning and long-term business growth initiatives
