Assemble structural forms, such as construction of conveyors, platforms, structures, trolleys and any manufacturing according to drawings.
Work involves using cutting torches, Tig, stick and Mig welding.
Must have the ability to use any hand and power tools, read and use all measuring equipment, and read and work according to engineering drawings.
Perform surface preparation prior to welding and construct jigs with close tolerances.
Be able to construct, assemble, maintain and repair any structural forms according to blueprint or verbal instruction.
Carry out inspection on any work performed.
Development and fabrication are the main purposes of this position.
Qualifications
Grade 12 or N3.
Boilermaker trade.
3-5 years’ experience as a qualified Boilermaker.
Valid driver's license and own transport.
Exposure to conveyors, boiler and steam systems will be advantageous.
Overtime and standby may be required.
Develop/fabricate all kinds of shapes and equipment, such as square to round, lobster back, etc. This will be tested.
Duties
Build, install, maintain and repair plant equipment and systems.
Read technical diagrams and blueprints.
Determine material requirements to complete a work piece.
Cut material to specification and within the given tolerance according to the drawing.
Bolt or arc weld structures and parts together using wrenches and welding equipment.
Examine work piece for defective welding, weak spots and repair defects.
Lay out material for construction of equipment, mark according to the drawing and tolerances.
Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates using straight edges, squares and measuring equipment; cut material to size with hand tools, cutting torch or saws.
Perform proper welding to the work piece once all parts are tacked together and verify fit according to specifications.
Repair and maintain all mechanical equipment.
Handle and move objects using hands and arms; position and move material.
Inspect equipment, structures or materials to identify errors or defects.
Perform activities requiring the use of arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking and stooping, and handling of materials.
Observe, receive, and obtain information from relevant sources to complete work pieces.
Monitor and review information from materials to detect or assess problems.
Identify information, estimate, recognize differences or similarities and changes in events to complete work pieces.
Preference will be given to applicants with FMCG experience.
