The Role: Senior IT Support Technician

This role is responsible for delivering advanced technical support, handling escalated helpdesk queries, and mentoring junior technicians. The position requires strong technical knowledge across core IT systems, the ability to troubleshoot effectively, and a commitment to continuous learning. The role is based on-site in Edenvale with travel required to client sites when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT support or a similar role.

• Provide Tier 3 helpdesk support and resolve escalated technical issues.

• Support and maintain Microsoft 365 environments, including setting up SharePoint with permission structure management.

• Manage, support, setup, and configure Sophos firewall solutions, including firewall rules and security elements such as IDS/IPS, following best practices.

• Setup, manage, and troubleshoot Windows Server and Active Directory Server.

• Manage 1st, 2nd, and some 3rd level support requests for mostly 1-3 server environments.

• Mentor and guide junior technicians.

• Travel to client sites as required.

About You

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in IT support.

• 3+ years handling IT support queries.

• Experience in Tier 3 helpdesk support.

• Experience setting up, managing, and troubleshooting Windows Server and Active Directory Server.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Sophos firewalls.

• Solid understanding of core IT technologies and concepts.

• Continuous learner with the ability to build knowledge from foundational to advanced levels.

• Ability to work in a team and on their own.

• Own reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license.

• Ability to work on-site in Edenvale and travel when required.

• Preferred experience in an MSP environment to manage multiple clients'' expectations.

• Sophos Qualifications are preferred.
