We are seeking a professional, hands-on Assistant Management Couple to support the day-to-day operations of a luxury lodge/game reserve. The couple will work as a team, with one partner responsible primarily for Guiding and Guest Experience, while the other focuses on Reservations, Administration and Lodge Support.
Both individuals should be guest-focused, organised, adaptable and comfortable working in a remote lodge environment. Previous experience within a luxury lodge, safari environment or hospitality operation will be highly advantageous.
Position 1: Assistant Lodge Manager / Field Guide
Job Purpose
To assist with the overall management and smooth running of the lodge while taking responsibility for guiding activities, guest experiences and ensuring that guests receive exceptional service throughout their stay.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct professional and engaging game drives and/or guided activities.
- Ensure guests receive an informative, safe and memorable safari experience.
- Provide guests with information on wildlife, fauna, flora and the surrounding area.
- Assist with guest arrivals, departures and transfers where required.
- Build strong relationships with guests and provide personalised service.
- Assist the Lodge Manager with the day-to-day running of the property.
- Assist with staff supervision and ensure service standards are maintained.
- Assist with lodge operations, including housekeeping, food and beverage and general guest areas when required.
- Handle guest requests, queries and complaints professionally.
- Conduct pre-drive and vehicle safety checks.
- Maintain guiding equipment and ensure vehicles and equipment are kept clean and operational.
- Assist with stock control and general lodge administration when required.
- Support lodge activities, functions and special guest experiences.
- Ensure all relevant guiding, safety and conservation procedures are followed.
- Act as a positive ambassador for the lodge and its brand.
Position 2: Assistant Lodge Manager / Reservations & Administration
Job Purpose
To support the management team with reservations, administration and the smooth day-to-day operation of the lodge, while providing professional and efficient service to guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage guest reservations and booking enquiries.
- Process bookings accurately and maintain up-to-date reservation records.
- Communicate with guests regarding bookings, special requests and travel arrangements.
- Assist with guest arrivals and departures.
- Maintain guest profiles and relevant reservation documentation.
- Coordinate with travel agents, tour operators and other booking partners.
- Assist with room allocations and guest itineraries.
- Manage general lodge administration and filing.
- Assist with invoicing, payments and basic financial administration where required.
- Prepare daily reports and operational documentation.
- Assist management with stock control, purchasing and supplier communication.
- Support the lodge team with general operational requirements.
- Assist with guest queries and ensure any issues are resolved efficiently.
- Maintain excellent communication between reservations, management and operational departments.
- Assist with staff coordination and administrative duties.
- Ensure all guest information is handled accurately and professionally.
- Step into operational duties when required to support the lodge team.
Position 1: Assistant Lodge Manager / Field Guide
Requirements
- Qualified Field Guide with relevant guiding qualifications.
- Valid DEAT/EDTEA registration, where applicable.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Professional Driving Permit (PDP) advantageous/required where applicable.
- First Aid certification advantageous.
- Previous experience as a Field Guide within a game reserve or safari lodge.
- Strong knowledge of wildlife, fauna and flora.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional presentation and guest-service orientation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a couple/team.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working in a remote bush environment.
- Flexible and willing to assist across different lodge departments.
Position 2: Assistant Lodge Manager / Reservations & Administration
Requirements
- Previous experience in reservations, lodge administration, front office or hospitality operations.
- Previous experience in a safari lodge/game reserve environment is highly advantageous.
- Strong computer literacy and administrative skills.
- Experience with a reservations/property management system advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- High attention to detail.
- Professional and friendly approach to guest service.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Financial/admin experience advantageous.
- Valid driver's licence advantageous.
- Must be comfortable living and working in a remote lodge environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a couple.
