Trade Operations and Financial Accountant

Period: Fixed term contract (maternity cover) for 6 months possibility of extending 3 extra months depending on company requirements.

An overseas based mining company with an investment in a South African based mine is looking for a driven person who is able to take initiative and work independently to run their finance and general business operations for a fixed period. The South African Branch is focused on marketing of product produced by the mine operations and whilst the direct marketing will be handled separately this role will be crucial in liaising with overseas based customers and ensuring smooth trade related operations in addition to running the general finance functions of the Branch.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key performance areas and
responsibilities:

• Month end processing and review
• Preparation of monthly payments to suppliers
• Review of sales contracts and ensuring smooth running of trade operational matters including customer satisfaction and resolving any queries from customers
• Ensuring timely and accurate communication with both the mine site and marketing personnel on sales and related trade operational matters
• Communicating and reporting to the Branchs head office situated abroad
• Liaising with external service providers and consultants incl. ICT payroll etc.
• Ensuring the Branch is up-to-date on any tax related matters with SARS e.g. Submission of relevant returns to SARS and correspondence on any other matters
• Ensuring compliance with CIPC through externally appointed company secretary

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Commerce/Finance/Accounting with postgraduate diploma or honors degree
• Minimum 3 years experience with Quickbooks Online experience advantageous
