Project Accountant Manger

Job Purpose:

Our client is seeking a Project Accountant Mangerto support the project engineering team by managing project-related accounting processes and providing stakeholders with relevant detailed and accurate project status updates and cost analysis. The successful candidate will play a key role in monitoring project financial performance tracking costs and ensuring timely and accurate reporting to support effective decision-making.

Responsibilities & Skills:

• Implement and maintain effective financial and budgetary controls to safeguard the companys financial and physical assets.
• Monitor and analyse project financial performance against budgets.
• Prepare weekly and monthly project expenditure forecasts.
• Compile monthly cost reports including variance analysis forecasting and financial planning.
• Prepare and submit quarterly capital expenditure and commitment reports.
• Ensure minimal audit findings by maintaining compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
• Conduct post-completion audits on a minimum of 10% of projects valued above R200000 executed in the Smelter and Low Security areas.
• Continuously improve financial procedures reporting and value-added analysis.
• Provide technical and financial recommendations to improve plant reliability operational efficiency and total cost of ownership.
• Optimise SAP financial reporting systems and processes.
• Develop and enhance reporting dashboards using tools such as QlikView and Power BI.
• Present complex financial and technical information clearly to a range of stakeholders.
• Prepare accurate and professional financial and management reports.
• Analyse organisational data to identify trends and provide actionable business insights.
• Identify problems proactively and implement practical effective solutions.
• Build strong working relationships and demonstrate leadership when collaborating across teams.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook).
• Advanced proficiency in SAP Financial Management modules.
• Experience with reporting and data visualisation tools such as QlikView and Power BI.
• Strong financial analysis and forecasting skills.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Honours Degree in Financial Management or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 7 years experience in Finance and Auditing.
• Proven experience in project budgeting costing and cost control.
• Exposure to project management systems and procedures will be advantageous.
