Principal Investment Officer Project Finance
Job Description
A leading organisation is seeking a Principal Investment Officer: Project Finance to play a strategic role in originating assessing structuring negotiating and closing high-value project finance transactions. This senior-level opportunity is ideal for a commercially astute professional with extensive experience in infrastructure finance strong stakeholder management capabilities and a track record of building and executing a robust investment pipeline across South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Responsibilities:
- Originate and execute complex project finance structured finance and corporate finance transactions.
- Assess investment opportunities conduct due diligence and enhance transaction bankability through effective risk mitigation.
- Lead transaction teams through deal structuring negotiation credit approval and financial close.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of infrastructure investment opportunities.
- Build and manage strategic relationships with government entities development finance institutions investors banking partners and private sector stakeholders.
- Provide expert financial modelling credit analysis risk management and transaction structuring support.
- Mentor and guide investment professionals while contributing to strategic organisational initiatives.
Requirements:
- Postgraduate qualification in Business Finance Engineering Economics or a related field (MBA CA(SA) CFA or equivalent advantageous).
- Minimum 10 years experience in project finance corporate finance structured finance or infrastructure investment within a financial institution.
- Demonstrated success in originating negotiating and closing large-scale infrastructure investment transactions.
- Strong knowledge of financial markets infrastructure sectors credit risk financial modelling and regulatory environments.
- Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders across public and private sectors in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Exceptional analytical strategic thinking negotiation presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Established networks within the investment banking infrastructure and development finance sectors.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify innovative solutions that deliver sustainable development outcomes.
