Operational Accountant Drive Financial Performance from the Ground Up

Are you a hands-on finance professional who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day operations of a business Our client is looking for an Operational Accountant who can combine strong technical accounting skills with a commercial mindset to support business performance and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the full accounting function including month-end and year-end processes.
• Prepare accurate management accounts and financial reports.
• Analyse operational costs margins and profitability.
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and maintain the general ledger.
• Assist with budgeting forecasting and cash flow management.
• Monitor inventory stock movements and cost allocations where applicable.
• Ensure VAT PAYE and statutory compliance.
• Support internal and external audit processes.
• Develop and improve financial controls and operational processes.
• Partner with operational managers to provide financial insights that drive business decisions.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements.
• Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.

Minimum Requirements:

• BCom Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Completed SAIPA or SAICA Articles will be advantageous.
• 3 years experience in a commercial or operational accounting environment.
• Strong understanding of management accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP Sage Oracle Microsoft Dynamics Syspro or similar.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
