International & Local Engineering Components Buyer

A well-established and internationally active engineering-focused organisation is seeking an experienced International & Local Engineering Components Buyer to join its procurement team. This role offers the opportunity to work within a fast-paced environment where procurement excellence, supplier management, and supply chain efficiency are critical to operational success.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure specialised engineering and technical components from both local and international suppliers.
• Manage the full procurement cycle, including supplier selection, quotations, purchase orders, and order tracking.
• Coordinate import procurement activities, including shipping, customs documentation, and logistics management.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring supplier performance, quality, pricing, and delivery timelines.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements to achieve cost savings and maximise value.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, ensuring continuity of supply and minimal disruption to operations.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, production, quality, and operational teams to ensure purchased components meet technical requirements.
• Monitor market trends, supplier developments, and international trade factors that may impact procurement activities.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
• Utilise ERP and inventory management systems to support procurement planning and stock control.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 5 years' procurement experience within an engineering, manufacturing, industrial, or related technical environment.
• Demonstrated experience in international sourcing, imports, logistics coordination, and supplier management.
• Strong understanding of import procurement processes and international supply chain operations.
• Experience negotiating with local and international suppliers.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement-related software.
• Valid driver's licence.

Advantageous Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Experience managing foreign suppliers and foreign currency procurement.
