Duties
- Ensure that the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department are carried out according to company standards and as specified by senior management.
- Perform regular inspections of the laundry, public areas, and lodges.
- Manage, support, and assist housekeeping personnel as required.
- Ensure that all housekeeping personnel are briefed on their daily duties and any other departmental information at the start of each shift.
- Lead by example in appearance and personal hygiene, ensuring that all housekeeping personnel on shift are neat and professional in their respective uniforms.
- Ensure that the cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation of guest lodges and public areas are maintained at all times in accordance with company standards.
- Ensure that all repair and maintenance issues are reported to the relevant departments and that appropriate action is taken.
- Provide on-the-job training to ensure that personnel continue to develop and improve.
- Maintain a positive attitude and a courteous, professional demeanour at all times.
- Anticipate and respond to all guest needs promptly, efficiently, and courteously.
- Ensure that any guest complaints are resolved promptly, efficiently, and courteously, and brought to the attention of senior management.
- Ensure that monthly stock takes are conducted.
- Accurately maintain linen stock.
- Maintain housekeeping consumable stock.
- Follow all reasonable instructions.
- Report any breaches of company policy to senior management.
Requirements
- Grade 12.
- Preferably 2–3 years' previous housekeeping management experience or experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
- Ability to coordinate and lead the housekeeping team.
- Ability to motivate and inspire the team.
- Strong communication skills.
- Self‑discipline.
