Job Title: Mine Manager (Open Cast)
Location: Rustenburg

Job Overview:
To manage and oversee the safe efficient and legally compliant operation of an open cast chrome mine. The Mine Manager is responsible for ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining compliance with all applicable mining legislation health and safety standards and environmental requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements:

• Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (MMCC) (Metalliferous Mines) Mandatory.
• Degree or National Diploma in Mining Engineering or a related mining qualification.
• Minimum of 8 years experience in mining operations with at least 3 years in a Mine Manager role within an open cast mining environment.
• Proven experience in open cast chrome mining.
• Eligible for appointment as the Mine Manager in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA).
• Sound knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA) and relevant mining regulations.
• Valid South African drivers licence.
• Advantageous
  
  • Previous experience in chrome mining operations.
  • Experience managing mining contractors.
  • Exposure to mine planning and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the mine.
• Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and other applicable legislation.
• Promote and maintain a safe working environment.
• Ensure production targets and operational objectives are achieved.
• Manage operational risks and implement corrective actions where necessary.
• Lead and manage mining personnel and contractors.
• Ensure effective utilisation of equipment resources and budgets.
• Oversee statutory reporting and regulatory compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement in operational performance.
