Corporate Legal Advisor

Aspire Recruiting is partnering with a prestigious corporate client to source a strategic commercially minded Corporate Legal Advisor. This role is designed for a resilient legal professional who excels in navigating complex regulatory landscapes and providing actionable legal counsel to business stakeholders. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor safeguarding the companys legal interests while facilitating its commercial objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide strategic day-to-day legal and commercial advice to executive management and various business units.
• Draft review negotiate and manage a broad spectrum of commercial contracts (e.g. vendor agreements NDAs IT agreements and commercial leases).
• Ensure organizational compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory frameworks including the Companies Act POPIA and the Consumer Protection Act (CPA).
• Identify assess and mitigate legal and commercial risks across all business operations and proposed transactions.
• Manage corporate governance matters including preparing board resolutions and advising on director duties.
• Liaise with and manage external legal counsel on specialized matters or litigation.
• Develop and implement internal legal policies standard operating procedures and compliance training for staff.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

• Education: Completed LLB degree from a recognized university.
• Professional Status: Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa is highly preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 years Post Qualification Experience (PQE) in a corporate/commercial legal environment (in-house experience is highly advantageous).
• Knowledge: Robust understanding of South African corporate law contract law and regulatory compliance.
• Skills: Strong business acumen with the ability to translate complex legal jargon into practical commercial advice. Excellent negotiation drafting and stakeholder management skills.
• Attributes: Highly organized proactive and capable of working autonomously in a fast-paced corporate environment.
