About the Role

Our client, a leading international automotive manufacturer, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Component Engineer to join their Product Development Division. In this role, you will ensure that automotive products meet stringent market requirements through the design, development, testing, and release of locally manufactured and adapted components.

This position plays a vital role in supporting product quality, safety, reliability, cost optimization, and customer satisfaction for both local and export markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and release automotive components in line with global group standards.

• Adapt international group designs to perfectly suit the African market and local environmental conditions.

• Apply preventative and corrective engineering tools (e.g., DFMEA) to mitigate risks.

• Ensure strict quality, safety, and reliability compliance before releasing components for production.

• Prepare, update, and maintain highly accurate engineering and technical documentation.

• Manage engineering changes efficiently in line with ongoing production build levels.

• Provide technical support for production, component localization, and cost-optimization initiatives.

• Actively participate in cross-divisional projects and collaborative technical forums.

Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• A National Diploma (NDip), BTech, BSc, or BEng in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Electrical Engineering.

Work Experience:

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in an automotive manufacturing or similar heavy engineering environment.

• Proven hands-on exposure to component/system development and testing processes.

• Prior exposure to engineering data systems and working within cross-functional teams.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies:

• Strong technical understanding and advanced engineering problem-solving skills.

• Sound project management and structured planning ability.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing capabilities.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and within collaborative teams.

• High degree of computer literacy (specifically Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
