Lead .NET Angular Developer (System Modernization & Data Focus)

• Company operates within a strong technology group and is now embarking on a full system modernization journey – transforming legacy systems into scalable, high‑performance platforms that support long‑term growth.

The Role

• Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
• Job Type: Hybrid (1 day a week in‑office)
• Experience: 5 – 8+ years of experience.
• Motivation: A passion for system modernization, and technical depth to rebuild distributed systems for scale and performance.
• Expectation: You'll lead a small team, take ownership of the environment, and drive the end‑to‑end transformation of critical systems built on AngularJS and .NET Framework into a modern, cloud‑ready architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Modernize & Rebuild: Lead the migration of legacy applications to modern Angular (v10+) and .NET Core/5+.
• Architect for Scale: Design and implement scalable microservices and RESTful APIs following SOLID and domain‑driven design principles.
• Distributed Systems: Manage inter‑service communication using RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Azure Service Bus in an event‑driven architecture.
• Data & Performance: Optimize SQL Server performance and improve high‑volume data throughput.
• Technical Leadership: Mentor 2 - 3 developers, conduct code reviews, and establish best practices across the stack.
• System Ownership: Oversee architecture, CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing stability of systems.
• Cross‑Team Collaboration: Work with product and business teams to ensure alignment between system capabilities and operational needs.

Skills & Experience

• 5 – 8+ years of professional software development experience, including 2+ years in a lead or senior capacity.
• Proficiency in C#, .NET Core / .NET 5+, AngularJS, and modern Angular (v10+).
• Expertise in TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.
• Strong background in microservices, RESTful API design, and distributed systems.
• Experience with message bus technologies: RabbitMQ, Kafka, Azure Service Bus.
• Solid SQL Server skills (query optimization, schema design, performance tuning).
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills – able to bridge technical and business contexts.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud‑based environments (Azure or AWS).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Exposure to large‑scale modernization or re‑platforming projects.
