Head Balance Sheet Management (Non-Life)

Role Purpose

Manage the actuarial team responsible for reserving capital management solvency assessments regulatory reporting and actuarial modelling. Provide strategic actuarial oversight to ensure the financial stability of Guardrisk and its clients while driving operational excellence stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement within the Balance Sheet Management function.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities and work outputs

• Predominantly involved with SA clients.
• Lead actuarial analysis financial reporting and engagement with auditors and key stakeholders.
• Oversee IFRS reserving SAM capital and technical provision modelling and ORSA capital and solvency projections.
• Manage capital calculations and capital optimisation initiatives for Guardrisk and its clients.
• Assist with cells and promoter dividend declarations process.
• Internal and external stakeholder engagement on accountable areas.
• Ensure timely delivery of regulatory and governance requirements.
• Drive process improvement automation and innovation within the actuarial function.
• Foster a high-performance collaborative culture focused on client service excellence people development and business outcomes.
• Encourage innovation change agility and collaboration within the team.

Requirements

Experience and Qualifications

• Qualified Actuary with at least 5-8 years working experience preferably in Non-life insurance
• 2-3 years people management experience (preferred)

• Advance knowledge of MS SQL
• Intermediate to advanced programming experience
• Advanced understanding of the components of SCR as prescribed by the prudential standards. Cell captive specific experience advantageous
• Experience in Non-life valuations will be an advantage
• Understanding of relevant legislation i.e. Insurance act Prudential standards and IFSR17
• Quick learner and self-starter
• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
