About the Opportunity

Are you an enthusiastic, self-motivated engineer with a sharp eye for detail and a knack for putting together winning technical bids? A leading player in the industrial manufacturing and energy sector is looking for two Proposals Engineers to join their dynamic team in Durban.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing cost-effective, engineered proposals and estimates for industrial water-tube boilers, ancillary plant, and retrofits. You will play a pivotal role in driving sales budgets and ensuring technical and commercial alignment on exciting projects across the sugar, paper, petrochemical, and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Tender & Proposal Prep: Review customer RFQs, define scopes of work, and compile comprehensive technical and commercial tender documents in line with company procedures.
• Costing & Estimation: Prepare accurate cost and time estimates, and issue and adjudicate supplier quotations.
• Client & Stakeholder Liaison: Work closely with the sales team, internal departments, suppliers, and customers to define strategies and secure orders.
• Site Visits & Inspections: Solicit enquiries, maintain customer relationships, and undertake physical boiler inspections alongside senior engineers.
• Contract Management: Review contracts and purchase orders (including FIDIC and GCC terms) and seamlessly hand over secured orders to the project delivery team.

What You Need to Bring

• Education: BTech / BSc (preferred) or National Diploma in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering as a minimum. Strong academic performance in Mathematics, Thermodynamics, Strength of Materials, and Technical Drawing is essential.
• Experience:
• At least 3 years of experience in a project-based engineering environment with practical, "hands-on" exposure.
• At least 3 years of experience working in an industrial water-tube boiler environment, with solid knowledge of boiler components.
• Prior exposure to a drawing office, sales, projects, or contracts environment.
• Skills:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings.
• High proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and Word) and MS Projects.
• A good grasp of contractual terms (FIDIC/GCC) and basic financial concepts.
• Licence: Valid Drivers Licence and your own reliable vehicle.
